They are both acclaimed in their professions, with one an author and the other a celebrity chef.

And it seems that Nigella Lawson and Salman Rushdie have much in common as the pair enjoyed a night out at Fischer's restaurant in Marylebone, Central London.

The duo, who have been friends for over 20 years, are believed to have spent around two hours in the upmarket establishment.

Nigella, 54, looked elegant for the occasion, wearing a gradient, monochrome checked jacket, teamed with an all-black top and trousers, while she carried a white leather bag.

Her dark shoulder, length hair was worn in un-styled in its natural curls.

The Satanic Verses author Salman, 66, meanwhile looked smart in a white striped shirt which was teamed with a classic navy jacket and black trousers.

A diner at the restaurant told the Daily Mirror:  'They were laughing happily throughout the meal and seemed so content with one another.

'Salman didn't seem to mind being spotted out with Nigella as they left. But she appeared much keener to hide the fact they'd been out again.'

The pair have been close for over two decades, with Salman having supported Nigella during her traumatic spilt from Chales Saatchi, 70, last year.

'Nigella and Salman have never been closer, a friend told the paper. 'They're real soulmates.'

Meanwhile, couple Charles Saatchi and Trinny Woodall looked to be going strong as they dined out at Scott's restaurant in Mayfair.

The London restaurant is the scene where Saatchi was pictured with his hands around his wife Nigella's throat, leading to the end of their marriage.

The affectionate display comes less than week after Trinny was seen crying her eyes out in the company of the mogul, before arriving at his house with her suitcases in tow.
