Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has revealed he has 'retired'.

The 40-year-old made the admission at Glastonbury Festival over the weekend as he mingled with the crowds looking like a shadow of his former self.

He told the Daily Mirror: 'I'm retired now. I haven't got any plans and I'm just having a lot of fun.

'I honestly don't know what I want to do. I've done a lot of time on radio and I've put myself out there. So, yes, I'm retired. I get to do things like this, come to Glastonbury and hang out.'

The news comes just months after it was revealed that the radio star used a 'working wheels' tax avoidance scheme to claim back money, which involved him pretending to run a second-hand car business.

At the time he admitted he publicly admitted his 'mistake' and said he had 'learnt a valuable lesson'.

He tweeted: 'Upon advice, I signed up to a scheme which I was assured was legal. My knowledge of the dealings of the scheme were naive.

'I'm not a tax expert and acted on advice. This was a mistake and I accept the ruling without reservation.'

But he had fought hard to hush up his use of tax avoidance schemes.

When it emerged in 2012 he had used the same legal offshore scheme as comedian Jimmy Carr, who was paying as little as 1 per cent, Chris claimed it would breach his human rights if he could not keep his membership secret.

Chris rose to fame for being opinionated on his hugely popular radio show, which he finished in 2012.

Since then he has tried his hand at acting appearing alongside Spice Girl Mel C in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar as King Herod.

He's also overhauled his lifestyle – losing a whopping five stone due to regular exercise, often with Mel, and a good diet.

Despite being linked to the pretty brunette on a number of occasions, Chris is currently single.
