DENIED: Michelle Keegan Won't Be Appearing On Strictly Come Dancing
Jun 29th 2014, 14:43

There have been plenty of rumours over who will be appearing in this year's season of Strictly Come Dancing when it kicks off in September, and with names of singers, comedians, sport personalities and actors being bandied about it can be tricky to know which reports to believe.

But one lady we won't be seeing doing the foxtrot is one Michelle Keegan. The former Coronation Street actress has been touted as one of the celebs who will be joining the professionals on the dancefloor this autumn, but now the record has been set straight.

Talking to Fabulous magazine, Michelle said: "I'm not going on Strictly. There's been an ask for a meeting, but now is not the right time.

"[Reality is] not for me right now. But it's nothing to look down on. Not at all."

But is it because she's not sure about her dancing abilities? A source told the Daily Mail:  "Michelle was approached to be on the show, but she never made a secret of the fact she's got two left feet.

"And while she enjoys watching Strictly, post Corrie she's looking at television and film roles to focus on her acting career."

This will be a disappointment to fans of Michelle and her fiance Mark Wright, who were hoping to see the couple waltzing off together on the show.

In March the Daily Mirror reported that the loved up duo were in early negotiations with the BBC, after an insider shared: "Mark and Michelle were both asked last year, but turned it down for different reasons. They have now provisionally been invited for talks. It just depends on their schedules.

"Having a couple like them on the show would make brilliant television. They are already big stars so it is sure to pull in bigger viewing figures."

Although this was later denied by Mark's rep, who said that this was just "speculation".

To be fair, both Mark and Michelle have jam packed schedules this year. Not only do they have several TV opportunities available to them and Mich has a new clothing line coming out with Lipsy, but they both have a wedding to plan!

Michelle recently confirmed via Twitter that she and Mark have set a date for their wedding, so it won't be long before there's a new Mrs Wright in Essex.
