During a live segment on CNBC yesterday, Simon Hobbs was among the reporters talking to New York Times columnist James B. Stewart about gay CEOs in Fortune 500 companies.
"I think Tim Cook is open about the fact he's gay at the head of Apple, isn't he?" Hobbs asked.
The room then fell awkwardly silent for a few moments before Stewart just shook his head and replied "Ummm.... no."
"Oh dear, was that an error?" Hobbs said. "I thought he was open about it."
Tim Cook Accidentally Gets Outed as Gay
Cook has not responded to the apparent outing and has never publicly acknowledged his sexual orientation.
However, on June 17 he Tweeted the following:
"I applaud @WhiteHouse decision to ban #LGBT discrimination at fed contractors. House must act on #ENDA. A matter of basic human dignity."
Ellen Page made a major announcement in early 2014: She's gay. We applaud her for it.
