Where there are highs the inevitable lows must surely follow, and so it proved at the Glamour Women of the Awards 2014 on Tuesday evening as some of the more memorable red carpet winners were offset by a series of questionable ensembles.
Leading the pack was Eliza Doolittle, who caught the eye for all the wrong reasons as she sashayed across the red carpet at London's Berkeley Square Gardens – venue for this year's annual event.
The 26-year-old songstress had gamely opted for a loose fitting shirt dress that had more in common with a standard nightie than conventional evening dress, but nonetheless she appeared pleased with the ensemble.

Eye-catching: Eliza Doolittle catches the eye in a short shirt dress that, by unintentional design, resembled a nightie
Posing for photos shortly after making her way inside, Eliza gave onlookers a generous look at its general design – not least the loosely knotted train that somewhat unfortunately resembled a tail.
Another fashion low point on the night came courtesy of Sharon Osbourne, who grabbed her fair share of attention in a roomy, shapeless dress with a highly distinctive lilac print.
The former X Factor judge matched the dress with a heavily embellished clutch that served to detracted attention away from her generously cut evening gown.
Steady on: The songstress turns to reveal the loose knotted train that, due to its placement, looked rather like a tail
It's no laughing matter: Sharon Osbourne (L) sees the funny side after arriving in a shapeless gown for her night at the Glamour Awards, while TV presenter Jameela Jamil's baggy, shapeless gown did little to compliment her slender frame
Band on the run: Emma Freud (R) poses for a photo with Claudia Winkleman, but it was her unflattering silver dress and girlish Alice band that caught the eye
Emma Freud also threw her hat into the inadvertent ring for worst dressed thanks to a loose fitting silver sequinned dress that did little to compliment her figure.
The broadcaster matched it with a jarring Alice band better suited to the head of a teenage schoolgirl.
Elsewhere supermodel Naomi Campbell, so often leading the way for all the right reasons, badly misfired in a garish red and black ensemble with sleeveless detail and square cut chest panel.
Side by side: (L-R) Emma Freud, Glamour editor Jo Elvin, Claudia Winkleman and Jameela Jamil
Dubious: Natalie Dormer sported a sleeveless, floor length dress with a multi-coloured star print
Whoa there: Naomi Campbell scored a rare fashion fail with this memorable ensemble
But while it caught the eye one could argue it was also hard to miss, and did little to bolster Naomi's fashion credentials.
The supermodel later suffered a calamity when the dress came apart while she was taking her set.
An insider told MailOnline: 'It came apart at the back and her team were trying to put it together. She kept saying just use sellotape. Someone brought over masking tape but they did without it in the end.'
Say cheese: Former X Factor judge Sharon poses for photos in her unflattering evening gown
Here we go: Jameela Jamil (L) makes a game attempt at carrying off a rather dubious look, while Naomi Campbell (R) is quite a sight in her striking red and black creation at the Glamour Awards on Tuesday evening
Now just hold on a minute: Laura Whitmore wads amongst the fashion low points in a confusing, multi-patteren dress
Meanwhile TV presenter Jameeela Jamil was attempting to carry off a comparatively elegant evening gown, but its baggy cut failed to compliment her slender frame and looked, by unfortunate design, like a shapeless curtain.
Natalie Dormer also struggled to convince in a sleeveless indigo gown with a gathered waist and a striking design comprised of multi-coloured stars.
