Kevin Spacey Shoots Down James Bond Villain Speculation
Jun 8th 2014, 13:22

Kevin Spacey is clueless as to why there's so much speculation around his involvement in the next James Bond film.

The involvement, it turns out, does not exist - and he has no idea where the rumour came from.

Speaking to BBC News, he said: "I don't know why people keep writing about this.

"I've been offered no role, I've never read a script... No, I am not doing the next James Bond movie."

He added: "I don't know who started the rumour but stop it."

Sam Mendes is returning to the franchise for the next movie, which will be the 24th in the franchise. It has a high bar to meet, after 2012's Skyfall went on to be the highest-grossing film of all time at the UK box office with a $1bn haul.

"Obviously if [Mendes] wanted me he would've offered me the role," Spacey reasoned.

"I don't even know if there is a role, frankly."

Spacey has worked with Mendes before - on the 1999 film American Beauty and then again for the Bridge Project's 2011 staging of Richard III.

The new Bond film is due out in 2015.
