Better Call Saul Premiere Date Pushed Back To 2015, First On-Set Photo Revealed
Jun 20th 2014, 08:36

Breaking Bad fans will have a little longer to wait for the spin-off series Better Call Saul, as it has been announced that the premiere has been pushed back to 2015, although producers have softened the blow by unveiling the first photo from the show.

The prequel to the hit AMC show, which ended last October and starred Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, was due to hit screens later this year, but it will now air in early 2015 with the first season consisting of 10 episodes.

There's even better news though as the show, which has been created by Breaking Bad mastermind Vince Gilligan, and Peter Gould, has already been renewed for a second season which is set to air in 2016, proving the demand is high before it's even began.

According to E! News, the second season will run for 13 episodes. Better Call Saul will centre on the character of Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman, who served as Walter White's lawyer in Breaking Bad, and will see Jonathan Banks reprise his beloved role as Mike Ehrmantraut, while Michael McKean has been cast to star as one of Saul's attorneys.

Confirming the news in a statement, Charlie Collier, president of AMC which will air the series, said: "Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes.

"When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves."

He added: "We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures."

As if the news wasn't exciting enough, the first photo from Better Call Saul has also been unveiled, showing Odenkirk in character as Saul, having a chat with Gilligan and Gould on set.
