However, the 20-year-old singer did thank the Dutch city for 'a great couple of shows' before their Where We Are stadium tour moves on to Italy and a gig at Milan's San Siro Stadium on June 28

Video footage taken during their last performance at Amsterdam Arena saw Niall struggling to walk a short ramp with his electric guitar strapped across his shoulder.

Additional footage sees bandmate Harry Styles struck in the face with a solid looking object while crossing the stage with Louis Tomlinson and Niall – who stoops to retrieve a thrown baseball cap before placing it on Louis's head

Elsewhere the band have fuelled rumours of a collaboration with Pharrell Williams, who recently admitted he's working with the globally-successful band, as long as that's OK with them.

After performing at Capital FM's Summertime Ball in London on Saturday, the singer told Sugarscape that he and Liam have been spending a fair amount of time together.

Liam stopped by my studio,' he told the site. 'I think he's just genuinely curious about music.

'We have that in common. He's always wanting to see what's new and what's next.'

When asked whether the two acts would ever collaborate, he simply replied: 'Why not? Of course.'

However, it's unclear whether there are any present plans in the pipeline as he added: 'But I suppose they already have five voices - I don't know if they need an extra one.'
