Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett reportedly staged the barbecue in which they appeared to be getting along so well for the sake of their reality show.
We're not sure why this ever surprises us, but faking an entire event for the sake of a storyline makes you question the "reality" of anything on the show.
Despite the drama in their marriage, the embattled couple continues to play nice for the cameras while shooting their WeTV reality show Kendra on Top.
Apparently this even includes putting on big, fake family gatherings.
"The barbecue was definitely staged for the show," a source says.
"Things are not good between them. Hank is an emotional guy and wants things to work out between them and still hopes that they will, he'd do anything to get her back."
He might have thought of that before his mutual hand relief session with Ava London, the transsexual model whose tryst with Baskett torpedoed the marriage.
Whatever you ultimately see on TV, it's not going well for Hank.
"Kendra is meeting with divorce attorneys trying to get her ducks in a row so that she can proceed once the show ends," the source tells E! Online.
Since the scandal, "Kendra and Hank have not been sleeping in the same bed, he's been sleeping on the couch quite a bit, anywhere other than with her."
"She is completely over Hank. Whenever she goes out, she'll check out the scene and joke around about looking for cute guys. She is doing really well."
While the heartache may never totally cease, she is moving forward, in good spirits, and "focused on her children and making sure they're comfortable."
Kendra's rep had no comment. A spokesperson for the show said:
"We are currently in production on season three, which will premiere in the fall. We have always followed and will continue to follow the reality of Kendra."
How could you pose with Kendra for a Christmas card one second, Hank? And then get it on with a transgender model the next second?!?
