Lea Michele Celebrates Birthday With New Boyfriend, Best Friends And A Gourmet Meal
Aug 30th 2014, 19:25, by Emily Morgan

Lea Michele celebrated and feasted for her 28th birthday with close friends and her new beau Matthew Paetz.

The Glee star invited her "best girlfriends in the world" TV executive Stephanie Herman, actress Aubrey Dollar, actress JoAnna Garcia, and boutique owner Jennifer Cohen for the celebrations on Aug. 29. The ladies took a group photo together, but Matthew didn't join in. He was present for the party though, sources told Us Weekly.

The Kitchy Kitchen creator Claire Thomas served the party an incredible five-course meal. The menu included appetizers of a burrata platter and roasted garlic crostini, a cauliflower Brie soup, kale salad, and for the main course, Mexican Coke carnitas or burrata roasted tomato lasagna.

Lea blew out the candles on a delicious-looking Devil's food cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. She and her friends also drank white sangria with summer stone fruit and rose syrup.

The birthday girl shared a few photos from the party with her 4.47 million Twitter followers and thanked everyone for the good wishes.

"So much birthday love today... Makes me so happy... Thank you all for making this day so extra special!" she tweeted.

The party capped off a good week for Lea who started back to Glee for the show's sixth and final season. "So excited! First day back at #Glee today for #Season6! #BerryIsBack," she tweeted on Aug. 26.

The actress recorded five songs in the studio for the Fox series, including one of her "all time FAVORITE songs" she tweeted.

Lea's character Rachel Berry will return to her alma mater McKinley High School to become the glee club's new leader. Before the tragic death of her co-star and boyfriend Cory Monteith, Glee co-reator Ryan Murphy originally had planned for Cory's Finn Hudson to take over the glee club.

"The ending of Glee is something I have never shared with anyone, but I always knew it. I've always relied on it as a source of comfort, a North Star," Ryan said in his eulogy for Cory.

"The very last line of dialogue was to be this: Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn's glee club. 'What are you doing here?' he would ask. 'I'm home,' she would reply. Fade out. The end."

Glee will return for it final 13-episodes this midseason on Fox.
