Hollywood was left dumbfounded at the shock decision by Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas to call their 18-year marriage quits last week, but it seems the couple's inner circle were just as surprised and never believed the split would actually happen.
According to a friend, the 56-year-old actress hid all signs that she was filing for a divorce from the Desperado actor on Friday when she attended a public event just a day before the announcement, still wearing her wedding ring.

"She was all smiles," the pal told People of Melanie's mood on Thursday as she attended the AFI Life Achievement Award gala, which honoured veteran actress Jane Fonda.
Melanie was accompanied by fellow actress Eva Longoria, who the source revealed she referred to as her "date". "She was with Eva and called her 'my date,' and randomly said she was doing 'good.' "
But the next day, the Hollywood star revealed that she was ending her marriage, filing for divorce and citing irreconcilable differences.
The friend revealed that while the couple have had problems in the past, they never thought it would end in divorce. "They've been down this road before but I never thought it would actually happen," the pal added. "There is so much love there."
The married couple became an item after starring in the1995 film Two Much, but their golden marriage has been plagued by rumours of a split for most of this year.
A spokesperson for the couple announced their divorce in a statement, reading: "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalise our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together."
