Former Doctor Who Matt Smith Dating Downton Abbey Star Lily James ?
Jun 1st 2014, 15:10

Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith looks to be blossoming quite the 'friendship' with Downton Abbey star Lily James after the pair were pictured looking pretty cosy whilst out and about in London.

The pair have been spotted together several times recently, including the Cannes Film Festival and just days after the event the two were seen enjoying a stroll in London before quickly splitting up and heading in opposite directions after being spotted by paps, according to a report in the Mirror.

Lily - who plays Lady Rose Crawley in the period drama - has reportedly recently split from English actor Jack Fox while Matt looks to have been single since his split from model Daisy Lowe in 2011.

A source told The Mirror: "They looked pretty close and were having a chat, but quickly turned on their heels and headed off in different directions when they noticed people were looking over.

"It was hard not to notice these two famous people stood together in the street, but it seemed as though they weren't keen to be spotted together."

Both actors are doing extremely well at the moment, with Lily, 25, landing a role in the new film version of Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Meanwhile, after handing over his role as Doctor Who to Peter Capaldi, Matt has since appeared in Ryan Gosling's Lost River alongside Hollywood names such as Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes.

But Matt isn't the only one leaving his TV career behind as it was revealed that Lily's character Lady Rose will be leaving Downton Abbey after this year's fifth series - although the show's creator, Julian Fellowes, has insisted that her character will not be killed off which will leave the door open for a possible return.
