Like many Britney Spears fans, whenever she goes through a break-up or endures any bump in her personal or professional life, we brace ourselves a little. We all know what happened in 2007 after she split up from Kevin Federline, after all.
And now it appears that she has parted ways with David Lucado - a man her father ran an actual background check on - after he cheated on her. Boo hiss boo, Lucado. Boo hiss boo. But actually, while there must undoubtedly be a lot of hurt and heartbreak going on behind the scenes, Brit's outward persona on the likes of Twitter and Instagram has never been livelier.
While she is often accused of hiding behind the same well-oiled management machine that helped her back to the top of the charts following her well-documented 'dark years', she's been stepping into her own light with funny videos, colloquial tweets and - as reported earlier today - even telling the crowd at one of her Las Vegas shows that she's excited to start dating again. We can't even remember the last time she was that open without looking utterly terrified.
Is it a co-incidence that the influx of, well, 'personality' has seemingly been kicked up a notch since the unfortunate leak of her unedited singing earlier in the summer? Maybe, maybe not - but who cares... Britney's got banter, and we're loving it.
