The Simpsons season premiere lived up to its promise, sadly, killing off one of the show's most loved characters. Speculation suggested that the 26th series would see either Homer or Krusty the Clown get bumped off from Springfield, like The Simpsons would ever get rid of Homer, right? No, it was in fact Krusty's Rabbi father, Hyman Krustofsky who met his end last night, and it was actually all rather harrowing.
Krustofsky unexpectedly dropped dead as his tearful son came to his father some words of wisdom after comedians including Sarah Silverman and Jeffery Ross humiliated him in front of the whole town. "If you want to know my honest opinion of you, you've always been ehhhh," he said, collapsing before he managed to finish his sentence. There's an Alanis Morrisette song in that somewhere!
Homer's binge on everything he can possibly fit in to his body lifestyle had Lisa, and audiences fearing for his life last night, until the late Rabbi's fate was sealed. Springfield came together to mourn the loss of Krusty's dad, the father who he claimed never supported him. Even clown counseling couldn't help.
Rabbi Krustofski is killed off The Simpsons (Fox)
Voiced by both comedians Jackie Mason and Simpsons veteran Dan Castellaneta, Rabbi Krusofsky made his debut on the show in 1991 and has become one of the cartoon's most cherished characters since. Mason won the 1992 Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for the episode Like Father, Like Clown.
He will be sorely missed by all! RIP Rabbi Krustofsky.
