Earlier this week, Simon Cowell was quoted as saying that Cheryl Fernandez Versini had put on weight when she appeared as a judge on the X Factor USA back in 2011, and with no reaction or comment from Cheryl in the days that followed, we were itching to find out what she thought when EntertainmentWise caught up with the Geordie beauty at the X Factor press launch yesterday.
So, to give you a recap of what happened, the Radio Times quoted the media mogul saying of Cheryl: "When I saw her I didn't recognise her. Literally. The hair and outfit were crazy. Just totally crazy. I asked her manager, 'What's she wearing, what's happened to her hair?' He was defensive about it. I haven't a clue why she turned up like that. She'd put on a bit of weight, but not loads. That wasn't the issue."
The media mogul then went on to add: "The only way I can describe it is that it wasn't Cheryl sitting in that seat. She'd lost her confidence." To give credit to Simon who showed off a super tan at the event yesterday, he did admit that he was wrong to fire her the way he did.
But back to Cheryl, what was her response when we asked her about the comments Simon had made about her weight? Well, let's just say that Cheryl was very civil about it all. "You know what I heard actually, a gentleman should never speak about a woman's age or weight but that's only if you're educated on how to treat a woman so unlucky for him," she quipped. "And who listens to Simon Cowell these days anyways. I don't listen to him anymore." We think that is game, set and match!

Moving on from Simon's comments about her weight, Cheryl also shot down the claims made by Simon that she and Mel were feeling threatened by the upcoming talent on the show. The star, who was accompanied by her gorgeous French husband, Jean Bernard Fernandez Versini, added:
"He said a lot to the contrary which is interesting. I actually did an interview with him a couple of weeks ago when he was like: 'The reason why I love Cheryl and Mel is because they really want to find talent. They're not just interested in it because they're an artist'. I've been an artist for ten years now, I've found Cher Lloyd, I've had two winners. The man just needs something else to say. He needs new material. It's getting boring."
