The final five were given a choice last night over how the elimination would get played out
American Idol finalist Alex Preston has criticised the show over the shock twist that that saw the remaining five finalists being given the option to either save elimination for this week and face a double elimination next week, or to go through with the eliminations normal.
The finalists had to come to a unanimous decision either way but the ballot saw that the finalists were undecided, leading to Sam Woolf finding out that he was going to be going home because he received the lowest amount of votes.
Following the show, Alex who chose to keep the elimination the same, aired his thoughts on the twist and insisted that Sam was going to be successful despite his early elimination.

He wrote: "That twist was not cool. Didn't make sense at all. Should have just kept it the same. Whatever. Sam HAS a career, he's about to explode..."

Defending his decision to keep the elimination the same, Alex continued to comment on the social networking site: "Everyone voted tonight, knowing that they themselves could go home. No one knew. It is Americas vote, has been for 13 years. It's s****y."
Declaring that he and Sam were good friends despite what happened, Alex concluded with: "Oh, and who else is going to buy Sams kickass album? I am. He's one of my absolute best friends. For life."

Whilst Jena - who also chose to keep the elimination the same - didn't reference American Idol, she posted: "So unnecessary and stupid."
