Less Than 50 People Bought Robin Thicke's New Album 'Paula' In Australia
Jul 10th 2014, 09:07

Robin Thicke had big hopes for his heartbreak album 'Paula' including winning back the affections of his estranged wife, but it's backfired big time for the controversial singer with the record suffering abysmal sales in the UK, Canada and Australia, although, it seems the US has embraced the album which has charted fairly well there.

The 'Blurred Lines' crooner released the album in the UK last week but it was poorly received, only managing to shift 530 copies in the entire country. Canada was no different as Nielsen SoundScan reveals that 'Paula' was bought by a mere 550 fans, although, it's even worse in Australia with News.com.au reporting that it has failed to make it into the top 500. Wow!

Robin, 37, has received a better reception in the US though with 'Paula' impressively reaching number nine on the Billboard 200 chart, although it has only sold 25,000 copies which, in America, is pretty low. But at least it creeped inside the top 10!

Interestingly, R&B singer Trey Songz has topped the Billboard 200 chart for the second time in his career with his brand new album 'Trigga' which features the likes of Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber.

The sales are a complete contrast to the global success of his last record 'Blurred Lines' which topped the charts around the world and sold 731,000 units in the US and a further 60,000 copies in the UK.

It's most likely Robin has put fans off with his recent bout of desperate public pleas for his estranged wife Paula Patton to forgive him and take him back following their split earlier this year.

The couple, who were married for nine years and share son Julian, haven't had much contact since their split but Robin has used the album as an opportunity to reach out to the Mission: Impossible actress – but he's received radio silence so far.
