A day at the beach is anything but casual for Kate Beckinsale.
While most people would probably just throw on a tank, some shorts and a pair of flip flops for a seaside sojourn, the 40-year-old really turned up the heat in Malibu, California, on Monday.
Like thousands of people across America, the actress marked the Memorial Day public holiday by attending a BBQ.

However, this was not just your average cookout but rather one held at a multimillion beach front property.
For the party, the Total Recall star went for a striking all-white look of a romper with short shorts - which showed off her toned and tanned legs - which featured a white sheer chiffon layer over the top.
Breaking away from her colour scheme slightly the actress made the look pop by adding a pair of silver pointed top pumps and a snakeskin handbag.

Looking much younger than her 40 years, the brunette wore her locks in loose curls which framed her face.
Keeping her makeup in muted tones, allowed Kate's natural tan stand out even further.
Kate attended the party alone without husband Len Wiseman or her daughter, 15-year-old Lily Sheen.

Also attending the event was Diane Kruger and long-term boyfriend Joshua Jackson.
Diane also picked a monochromatic ensemble, wearing a tan waffle patterned fabric dress with leather gladiator sandals and tan vintage-inspired frames.
Keeping her look unfussy, the 37-year-old wore her hair wet and tied back into a low bun.
Newlyweds Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting also headed to the BBQ hand-in-hand.

For the day by the beach, Kaley prepared for the cool ocean breezes wearing a long layered pink with floral print dress under a leather jacket with wooden platform mules.
The Big Bang Theory star found herself the target of criticism on the internet on Monday after posing a picture of her and her husband at the event on Instagram.
The 28-year-old captioned the image: 'Celebrating Memorial Day in style :)'
Despite posting a tribute photograph to the troops just prior the party image, some of her Instagram followers thought the term 'celebrating' was in poor taste when the day is to honour fallen soldiers.
