Domhnall Gleeson Says Star Wars Casting 'Happened Really Quickly' Despite Drawn-Out Rumours
May 2nd 2014, 15:26

The build-up to the unveiling of the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII was monumental, but Domhnall Gleeson has said that, for him, it was actually quite fast.

After securing roles in About Time, Anna Karenina and Calvary, as well as a small part in the final Harry Potter films, JJ Abrams' new film in the famous franchise will mark Gleeson's biggest gig yet.

"I'm still struggling to come to terms with it," he told Dublin's 2FM. "It all happened really quickly for me.

"It was like the day before and then I'm at a table reading with Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. It was madness but it was great."

He did, however, refuse to comment on details of his exact role, amid speculation that he could play Luke Skywalker's son.

"I'm afraid if I say anything I'll give away the plot of the whole movie," he teased.

"I've got two years of this ahead of me. The movie is released in December 2015 - that's the amount of time I have to keep my mouth shut!"

The cast also includes Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis and John Boyega, with the release date set for December 18, 2015.
