Prince Harry And William Bring Royal Fever To The US: Why Americans Wish They Had The Royal Family
May 2nd 2014, 20:32

This weekend Royal Fever has swept through the US as Princes William and Harry hit the wedding of close friend Guy Pelly in Memphis.

Newly single Harry has already caused many hearts to flutter after he hit Miami on Wednesday night and then headed to a BBQ restaurant with his big brother on Thursday for the reception dinner.

As the Americans fawn over the dashing princes, it's proof the royal family are as popular (and perhaps even more so) in the US as they are here.

While the US might have the Kennedys or the Clintons it's hardly the same as Queen Elizabeth and Co.

But why would the Americans even want the House of Windsor? Check out just why having the royal family is just so great:

1. The Queen

She's a legend - WENN

From driving without a licence, to appearing as a Bond girl, Queen Elizabeth II is just far and away the best thing about the royal family.

2. The History

Let's face it, whether it's Henry VIII and his eight wives or Queen Victoria the royals have given us some of our most defining moments in the nation's history.

3. Bank Holidays

People celebrate the extra day off (WENN)

Marriages and Jubilees give us an extra day off to celebrate!

4. Pomp and Ceremony

We might all be tweeting and taking selfies, but the spectacle of events like Trooping the Colour is one of the things the British do best.

5. Royal romances

Thanks to Disney, most girls grow up just wishing they might become a princess and in the UK it's actually a reality!

6. Prince Harry

Got to love Harry (WENN)

Talking of marrying a prince, Harry, the dashing most eligible bachelor on the planet is now single. As well as looking pretty hot in his Army uniform and supporting his charities the prince likes to party and showed off her hot bod when getting naked in Vegas, he also laughed and smirked all the way through the royal wedding.

7. Houses

Not bad! (WENN)

Their homes just happen to be palaces and castles that have become national icons and you can visit them too.

8. The Duchess of Cambridge

Whether it's the clothes, the hair or the smile nearly everyone is smitten with the royal bride and now she's given us Prince George we defy you not to be head over heels for the Duchess!

9. National Celebrations

Who doesn't love flags? (WENN)

There aren't many reasons for throwing street parties these days, but a Jubilee or royal wedding gives us a chance to get the bunting out and wave a flag.

10. They're terribly British

"We're so posh and rich" (WENN)

Yes, yes we know the arguments about being German but at times of national crisis, it's nice to know there is a common factor tying the country together, whether you love or hate them everyone has something to say!
