'I Like Being Completely Sober': Zac Efron Opens Up On Life After Rehab Stint
May 1st 2014, 17:36

Zac Efron has hit back at reports that he has succumbed to his reported addiction to alcohol and drugs again, insisting that he's doing "great" and "likes being completely sober."

The 26-year-old, who is promoting his new movie Bad Neighbors which stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, endured a short stint in rehab last year but so-called "friends" recently came forward to express their concern that Zac has fallen of the wagon after he got punched in a rough Los Angeles neighbourhood.

Speaking to USA Today about his rehabilitation and life of sobriety, Zac said: "I went in. Today, I'm good."

When asked if he still drinks, Zac replied: "No. I like being completely sober."

Addressing the recent reports from his alleged pals, the former High School Musical star admitted: "Maybe there are some people who are not my friends anymore, probably?

"That's my only way to extrapolate from that. Because my parents are stoked. All my roommates are stoked. The people I work with, the people I really care about are so much happier. And I feel so much better, so whoever my 'friends' are who are 'really worried,' I'm sorry."

Bad Neighbours sees Zac star as Teddy, a young, party-loving fraternity president who terrorises his neighbours (Rogen and Byrne), but the actor insists that it wasn't difficult to be around the temptations of alcohol.

"If anything I was able to put it somewhere. It's fun to take it too far. In your work and — especially in your work. But it's just the way you grow up, I think," Zac explains.

He simply added: "You learn."
