The mystery grows over President Obama's visit to Hollywood Wednesday ... which we've learned has now been officially cancelled.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... LAPD brass notified its Hollywood division an hour ago ... they got a call from the Secret Service saying Obama would no longer be coming to Hollywood ... although he is coming to L.A.
TMZ broke the story ... the plan was for Obama to show up at the El Capitan Theatre at 3 PM Wednesday and he would be there for an hour. LAPD sources told us they had been notified about the plan and were ready, but just an hour ago they were told -- without explanation -- to stand down.
We also reported ABC sources told us the purpose of Obama's Hollywood visit was to appear on Jimmy Kimmel's show, which tapes right next door to the El Capitan. Kimmel's people told us it was not true ... Obama would not be on the show.
We have contacted the White House multiple times about the Hollywood visit ... but we never got a response.
