Zac Efron Talks Addiction, Rehab With Bear Grylls
Jul 29th 2014, 20:18, by Tyler Johnson

Zac Efron appeared on the series premiere of Running Wild with Bear Grylls last night, and while he had no trouble snacking down on an omelet of worms and wild bird eggs, Efron's most surprising moment came when he opened up to Grylls about his struggles with substance abuse.

When Zan and Bear were lounging fireside after their day's adventure, the topic of Efron's rehab stint came up, and the Neighbors actor discussed that dark period in his life with surprising candor.

"Everywhere you go, to a certain extent there is press," says Efron. "If you are leaving your house to go to the grocery store, there will be press there. It can be confusing. You spend a lot of time in your house, going crazy. Pretty soon, you need a social lubricant. Once I needed that, it became to go anywhere."

"It was getting to the point where I was caring less about the work and waiting more for the weekend. I couldn't wait to go out and let loose and have fun, but then when Monday and Tuesday were difficult to get through, I thought, this is bad."

"I never again want to have to take anything from the outside into me...to feel good in my present skin. That takes a lot of work. It's just meditation and stopping and slowing down your brain."

Despite Zac's possible relapse back in April, rehab genuinely seems to have changed his life for the better. His career is on the upswing and Efron is dating fellow actor Michelle Rodriguez.

So he's made a remarkably rapid comeback, and he's down to eat some words when he needs to. We like this guy more every day.
