The event planner says it was a 'very Kennedy'-esque affair...
Jessica Simpson is about to walk down the aisle today and marry her longtime fiancé Eric Johnson. The wedding and reception, which is reportedly taking place at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, will be the second event Jessica has hosted in two days. The first, a Fourth of July barbecue for all of her wedding guests, was held yesterday and, according to Jess' wedding planner, was quite the classy affair.
"It's very down home," wedding planner Mindy Weiss told People magazine. "But it's not a T-shirt and jeans Americana. Because Eric's from Boston, it's more khakis and white shirts. Very Kennedy!"

While Jessica went for a classic barbecue theme, the menu was anything but basic hotdogs and hamburgers. Guests were treated to appetizers such as lobster dogs and shellfish, before the traditional cookout feast, which included fried chicken, baby back ribs and grilled shrimp, was served. In addition to the food, the event also included fireworks, games for young guests and a photo booth.
Since Jessica and Eric decided to use the holiday weekend to tie the knot, she did her best to ensure the guests didn't feel slighted about not spending the holiday at home.
"Jessica didn't want her guests to miss out on the 4th of July," she adds. "That's who they are. Their No. 1 concern is for their guests coming all this way for the wedding."
The entire Simpson family, which includes Jessica's younger sister Ashlee, as well as her parents Tina and Joe, has remained silent on their social media for the last few days. Jessica has yet to post any photos of the wedding or pre-wedding activities to her social media accounts.
This is Jessica's second wedding. In 2002, she married singer Nick Lachey. They divorced in 2006. She has been with Eric since 2010 and together they have two children, daughter Maxwell and son Ace.
