A cancer charity has said that it will not accept donations from Reddit users keen to make themselves feel better about spreading celebrities' nude photos during this week's furore.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation revealed in a statement that it had noticed one user of the social networking site encouraging others to give money to the cause amid claims that it is Jennifer Lawrence's charity of choice. The Oscar winner is the most high-profile victim of the so-called "Fappening" controversy, with Kate Upton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead also embroiled.
The Californian organisation said: "A post appeared on Reddit late Monday afternoon, September 1, 2014. A Reddit user directed other Reddit users to make a donation to the Prostate Cancer Foundation without the Foundation's knowledge. We would never condone raising funds for cancer research in this manner. Out of respect for everyone involved and in keeping with our own standards, we are returning all donations that resulted from this post."

The post in question was reportedly titled 'Welcome To The Donation Page Of Reddit: The Fappening'; the word "fap" being slang for masturbation. $6000 was raised, according to Mashable, before the thread was shut down.
It is thought that an underground ring that has been operating for years is behind the leak; with newcomers only being granted membership if they could provide new nude photos of public figures.
