AIM Awards 2014: Arctic Monkeys, London Grammar, Twin Atlantic Amongst Winners

This year's The Association of Independent Music's annual AIM Awards took place last night at London's The Brewery, with Arctic Monkeys, Twin Atlantic and London Grammar all being amongst bands to walk away with awards.

The bash was hosted by XFM's John Kennedy and Radio 1's Alice Levene and Twin Atlantic were the ones to open the ceremony, as they took to the stage to play acoustic verstions of 'Oceans', 'Heart And Soul' and 'Brothers And Sisters' from their album Great Divide.

Despite them not attending the event, the Arctic Monkeys walked away with the Independent Album award for AM, whilst London Grammar bagged the Independent Breakthrough and PPL Most Played New Independent Act gongs, NME reports.

London based label Hyperdub also won two awards - Best Small Label and the new Innovator Award for label boss Steve Goodman. Other winners of the night included Sophie Ellis- Bextor, who won Best Live Act and Richie Hawtin, who bagged the Outstanding Contribution award.
