Lady Gaga is no stranger to controversy, but she may have taken on more than she can handle when she inadvertently waded into the murky waters of international politics today.
Gaga recorded a simple, ten-second video to promote her upcoming concert in Tel Aviv, Israel. The clip was uploaded to YouTube yesterday and has since ignited an astonishingly violent, hateful comment board debate.

Naturally, most of the comments aren't suitable to be shared here, but needless to say, things got very ugly, very quickly, as Israel detractors accused Gaga of a pro-Zionist agenda, while fans of the Mother Monster rushed to her defense.
Gaga is accustomed to controversy involving her weight and feuds with the likes of Perez Hilton, but this is uncharted territory for the beloved singer. Hopefully she'll tread lightly, should she decide to respond to the controversy at all.
While a slew of other artists have canceled shows in Israel over the summer, Gaga is proceeding with her September 13 concert as planned.
The video was intended to be a short message to fans to assure them that the show would go on, but the brief greeting has now taken on a life of its own.
Anger over the video even has some fans concerned for Gaga's safety, and has led to suggestions that perhaps she should cancel the concert after all.
