Benedict Cumberbatch is currently in the process of being immortialised in wax for his statue at Madame Tussauds, and we have to say that the Sherlock actor's wax look-a-like is a pretty good match to the real thing!
The announcement that Benedict was going to get his own wax work at the famous museum, was made earlier this year and now we have been given behind the scenes access to see how the makers of the amazing wax work figures are getting on.
And of course, Benedict has been on hand to help when he attended a second sitting earlier this year. In the pictures, the actor, who has had a busy few years working both in film and TV, was seen having a go at smoothing out his chiseled clay cheekbone and ears as well as sitting close to his clay head so that the artist could get the likeness spot on. And we have to say, they are doing a great job.
Speaking about his wax work earlier this year, the Sherlock actor, who has had a lot to celebrate recently with his win at the Emmy awards in the US, said: "Finally I can photobomb myself! What a weird and wonderful compliment to be included in the ranks of talent already committed to wax. I've been accused of being wooden in my work but never waxy! The main privilege for me was the process and seeing the amount of exacting work and skill brought to every detail of this art form. It is a wonderful combination of old and new, hi-tech and lo-fi skills."
What's in there? (PR)
"Measurements, hand inserted individual hairs and sculpted features. As a subject, you stand still surrounded by sculptors, painters, photographers, measurers and a whole army of people who bring together your likeness... it's an extraordinary experience. Also my agents will be thrilled, they've wanted a clone of me for some time!"
Whilst, Benedict's wax work is pretty much a perfect copy of him, there have been some celebrities who haven't been that lucky with their wax works...
We can't wait to see the finished product (PR)
Just take a look at these!
