Taylor Swift: 'People Wouldn't Listen To My Music If It Wasn't 'Heartbroken, Jilted, Sad And Bitter'

Taylor Swift has admitted that if her songs weren't so painful people probably wouldn't have been interested in her at all and it's her heartbreak and emotion, which fans look up to the singer for.

Emotion is clearly a fundamental part of Taylor's career as her refreshingly honest accounts of break-ups with some of the most famous men on the planet made the world stand up and pay attention.

The I Knew You Were Trouble hitmaker has temporarily hung up her microphone to star alongside Meryl Streep and Katie Holmes in The Giver and discussing her performance as an uncharacteristically cold young girl, Taylor said: "To me emotion is such an important part of my life, and now I guess my job.

"People wouldn't listen to my songs if they weren't heart broken or deeply affected and hurt and jilted and sad and bitter and all those wonderful things that I write songs about."

Taylor is expected to make her big musical comeback later this month performing at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in California where she's promised an "explosive" set at the star-studded bash.

According to E! News, Taylor, 23, will be treating the audience to an "exclusive" performance which will see the singer hit the stage solo. A source reportedly told the publication: "It's not a collaboration with another singer."

Details of her return to the stage are being kept well under wraps but we would bet good money we're in for brand new Taylor Swift material during the ceremony, taking place on August 24 at The Forum, Inglewood.

More on Taylor Swift:

The singer confirmed work on her latest studio album during a press conference in Shanghai back in May during her Red World Tour, telling reporters: "I've already been working very hard on it and it's already my favorite thing that I've ever created. So the idea that after Asia, I get to go back and finish everything and get everything completely done and completely wrapped up for a new project, it's very exciting."

Very exciting in deed, but judging by her latest comments, we probably shouldn't be expecting any club bangers anytime soon!
