Too Busy To Marry? Michael Strahan Ends Five-Year Engagement

By Ashley Majeski On August 1, 2014

Michael has been dating Eddie Murphy's ex-wife for years...

Michael Strahan is one of the busiest men in morning television these days. In addition to co-hosting Live! With Kelly and Michael, the former professional football player also took a "side job" earlier this year which made him a part-time anchor for Good Morning America. While working both jobs has been great for his career, it seems to have been devastating to Michael's personal life.

On Friday, his rep confirmed that Michael had ended his engagement to his fiancé of five years, Nicole Murphy. In a statement to Gossip Cop, Michael's rep cited multiple reasons for the couple's split, most of which appear to center on Michael's overwhelmingly busy schedule.

"They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship," Strahan's spokesperson told the site.

Michael proposed to Nicole, who was previously married to actor Eddie Murphy, back in May of 2009 during a trip to the Bahamas.

"I have a great relationship and she's a great girl," Michael told People when the engagement was announced. "I don't like to talk much about my private life, but I'm really happy."

The couple, who together have nine children from previous relationships, do not have any children together. They started dating in 2007.

Nicole is best known for appearing on the reality show Hollywood Exes. She has not mentioned the split with Michael on her social media accounts.
