Charlie Hunnam and Jamie Dornan just can't tear themselves apart. A new report has claimed Sons of Anarchy star Charlie has landed the lead role in Guy Ritchie's new King Arthur movie, a role that his Fifty Shades of Grey replacement Jamie was previously linked to.
Charlie was forced to withdraw from the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of EL James' sex-fest Fifty Shades last autumn, citing his commitments to his hit show Sons of Anarchy. But with the seventh and final season of the motorcycle drama pretty much in the can, the actor's schedule has freed up.
Deadline are reporting that the actor has landed the role in Ritchie's hyped King Arthur epic, with the Brit director said to have had Charlie at the top of his list for the Warner Bros project. It's a huge deal for Charlie, who also starred in last year's blockbuster Pacific Rim, as Ritchie is expected to launch a six movie franchise based on the legend.
According to today's report Charlie is still in "negotiations" but it's looking close to a done deal, which could be disappointing news for Jamie. The Northern Irish hunk replaced Charlie in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, wrapping the film earlier this year. But with future films based on EL James' two further novels thought to be in the pipeline, Jamie was reportedly forced to pull out of the King Arthur movie, due to his hectic Fifty Shades scehdule. How the tables have turned!

Last week The Sun reported that Jamie was super keen to star in Ritchie's movie, especially as he fears his role as Mr Grey may lead to typecasting. A source claimed to the paper: "Jamie is hot property in Hollywood. Guy was completely blown away when he met him and wanted to offer the part immediately. Jamie is keen on the role, too, and his US agents are keen to work out a deal where he'll be able to do both franchises." If the insider is right though, it seems Jamie's deal with Universal, the studio behind FSOG, put a stop to his Arthur plans. "They have to convince Universal to allow Jamie to make the film with Warner Brothers, which isn't looking promising," claimed the source.
Jamie and Charlie weren't the only ones keen to lead Ritchie's picture though, with Superman star Henry Cavill and Die Hard 5 actor Jai Courtney also alleged to have read for the role. With Henry tied up with Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman 2016 release though, it seems unlikely he'd have the time to commit to another huge movie.
Meanwhile, the rest of the King Arthur cast is shaping up nicely with Brit favourite Idris Elba thought to be playing Merlin while Elizabeth Olsen is the frontrunner for the female lead.
