Original Sugababe And MKS Member Mutya Buena Declared Bankrupt
Sep 26th 2014, 18:34, by Kayleigh Giles

Original Sugababe Mutya Buena was declared bankrupt this week after failing to pay a large tax bill.

The Mutya Keisha Siobhan member owed her own company God Made Me Funky around £22,500 while another of her businesses, Sacred Three Limited, was around £10,000 in debt, according to The Sun. God Made Me Funky had only made £902 profit according to accounts in March 2013.

MKS includes Mutya's fellow original Sugababes members Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy. The three hoped to recreate their early chart success with single Flatline, produced by Dev Hynes, but the track peaked at Number 50 in the UK. The band haven't produced any material following this release but were seen opening the NME Awards with Metronomy in February this year.

According to Buena's reps, she "continues to write and record with the band". The star has insisted that her bankruptcy order is the result of an "administrative error". MKS were scheduled to release an album this year, but the LP is still to emerge.

Mutya isn't the only singer who enjoyed pop success in the early 2000s to file for bankrupt recently. Last month Blue singer Antony Costa declared himself bankrupt, following in the footsteps of his fellow bandmates Duncan James and Simon Webbe who declared themselves bankrupt last year after they were unable to pay their debts.

Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona was bankrupt in 2008 and 2013, and as a result even asked for money from her wedding guests at her nuptials to George Kay earlier this month to help feed her children.
