It's been a year since we bid farewell to Walter White in the stunning 'Breaking Bad' but the gripping series proved that in a 'golden age' of television, the show which followed a terminally ill Chemistry teacher grow Crystal Meth to provide for his family, really was the cream of the crop.
Picking up the most Emmy's of the night, 'Breaking Bad swept the board in an evening which gave the prestigious series the goodbye it really deserved.
Walking away with the top prizes of the night, 'Breaking Bad' fended off competition from 'True Detective', 'Downton Abbey', and 'Game of Thrones' to nab the Outstanding Drama Series award.

Breaking Bad bags four Emmy Awards (Twitter)
Stars of the show were also recognised and quite rightly so for their breath-taking performances with Bryan Cranston winning his fourth Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama title, making him tied for the most wins in the category, while Aaron Paul won his third Supporting Actor in a Drama for his role as Jesse Pinkman. Anna Gunn also took home a trophy for her performance as Skylar, whose portrayal of Walter White's on-screen wife really was truly astonishing in the show's final series.
Moira Walley-Beckett, 'Breaking Bad' writer was also victorious scooping the gong for Writing for a Drama Series for her single episode 'Ozymandias'.

Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman win top prizes (BBC Pictures)
British drama 'Sherlock' also dominated the night with a total of three prizes. Benedict Cumberbatch added an Emmy to his endless accolades for his role as the iconic detective, winning the lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie award.
Martin Freeman also came out on top in the Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie award while Steven Moffat brought home the Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special category for the series three finale 'His Last Vow'.
'Modern Family', an Emmy favourite, won a fifth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series award making it undefeated in the category since it first aired in 2009.

Ty Burrel wins another Emmy (Fameflynet UK)
Ty Burrel, whose performance of Phil Dunphy is one of our favourite comedic performances ever, bagged the Supporting Actor in a Comedy award. Sadly his co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen and Nathan lane missed out.
'The Big Bang Theory's' Jim Parson's picked up the Lead Actor in a Comedy Emmy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was named the top Lead Actress in a Comedy for 'Veep' and Julianna Marguiles won the Lead Actress in a Drama prize for 'The Good Wife'.
