Photos that appear to show Jennifer Lawrence naked have begun circulating on Twitter, in which 'she' can be seen pulling provocative poses in various states of undress. A rep for the Academy Award winner has responded to the images, dubbing them a "flagrant violation of privacy".
The images have been circulating like wildfire on the net, particularly on social networking sites like Twitter. The Hollywood Gossip - who somewhat oddly have labelled the scandal "the day we've all been waiting for" - have said that a further 60 snaps are apparently in the hacker's possession.
A rep for the star has since spoken out on the photos, warning that anybody who posts them will be prosecuted. They stated: "This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."
Of course there is no shame whatsoever in sending a trusted person an explicit photograph - the shame rather lies with whoever breached the trust and enabled the snaps to make their way online. There's clearly malicious intent here and it's a shame for such a low blow to be dealt to someone with so many impressionable young fans.
No doubt Jennifer will continue to set a good example by facing up to this in whichever way she and her team see fit. But in any case, her career continues apace, with both Serena and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 due in cinemas before the end of the year. The latter's Part 2 is expected in 2015. Earlier this year she bagged a BAFTA for American Hustle, and of course netted the Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook back in 2013.
To sum up - we are firmly #TEAMJEN.
