But Mel B failed to live up to her Scary Spice persona as the first episode of the new series aired on Saturday night.
The singer was instead moved to tears as the premiere episode drew to an end following a heartfelt performance by the talented Jay James.

Viewers saw Mel giving far less stinging criticism to acts throughout the show and were even left surprised when she opted to allow wacky sister duo, Blonde Electric, through to the next round after their unique rendition of Jessie's hit single, Do It Like A Dude.
But they got a glimpse at the America's Got Talent judge's softer side as she was left moved by the final audition of the premiere episode.
Jay James revealed his back story as he revealed that he had joined the navy at the tender age of 16.

It was on his first day of training that he tore cartilage in his knee and was forced to go on sick leave. To kill time, he bought a guitar and began to make music.

Cheryl echoed, 'She doesn't cry' as Simon said: 'Amazing that's how you do it. When you first started, I thought it was good. And it just got better and better.
'The control in your voice and the way you built it was just fantastic. I've got a really, really good feeling about you.'
He asked: 'Why are you so emotional?'
Jay James replied: 'It's just been a journey.'
Impressed: Cheryl called it, 'One of the most passionate performances we've had so far.'
Future star: As they gave their final verdicts, Simon said: 'Everything you've gone through has got you to this moment and I couldn't be happier to give you your fourth moment.'
Louis added: 'It was a brilliant song choice and you just reeled us in.'
