The Emmy Awards - an event that celebrates and honours the stars of the small screen and a chance for said stars - in particular, the ladies - to show off their style credentials with their choice of award show attire.

However, not everyone ticked the 'yup, she's got her Emmy awards style spot on' box last night. Yes, Lena Dunham, we're looking at you and wondering why you opted for a white shirt and pink tutu style shirt.

But Lena wasn't the only one as The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik failed to look as regal as she was expecting in a royal blue floor length gown. Perfect for a state dinner, but perhaps not so much for a red carpet.

Whilst Mayim might have not won when it came to style on the red carpet, her Big Bang Theory co-star Jim Parsons won the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Orange Is The New Black's Laura Prepon also failed to make the right impression on the red carpet with her blue and green gown that looked pretty difficult to walk in. And sadly, Laura and her co-stars left the prestigious awards ceremony with no awards despite being nominated for a handful.

American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson also failed to set us on fire with her outfit of choice, opting for a long black gown that featured an array of red dotted mesh that almost covered her face!

Whilst these ladies failed to be the big winners of the night when it came to style, it was the stars of Breaking Bad that won the Emmy jackpot after scooping six awards, including best Drama Series, Lead Actor In A Drama (Bryan Cranston) and best Supporting Actress In A Drama (Anna Gunn)

The other big winners of the night included the BBC's Sherlock after it scooped the award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries or a Movie (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Martin Freeman).

But that wasn't all that the hit BBC drama, which will begin filming next year for a special, won as Steven Moffat took home the prize for Outstanding Writing in a Miniseries or Movie.
