ABC executives woke up to very good news this morning.
Viewers around the country apparently chose NOT to watch TV online Thursday, considering the very impressive ratings put up by the Scandal Season 4 premiere and How to Get Away with Murder series premiere.
First, Scandal Season 4 Episode 1 set a high mark for the drama, as 11.9 million households tune in overall and the show garnered a huge 3.9 rating among 18-49-year olds.
But How to Get Away with Murder Season 1 Episode 1 actually shot past these figures, tying Scandal in the latter ratings department and bringing in a total of 14 million viewers.
Grey's Anatomy (9.8 million, 3.0) even opened the night at well in its new 8 p.m. time slot, a space ABC has long struggled to fill.
The premiere, which featured Derek choosing to remain in Seattle and featured Meredith clashing (A LOT) with her half-sister fell 12 percent when compared to last year's opener.
But that was to be expected in the new time slot.
So, the lesson here is clear: the world belongs to Shonda Rhimes, everyone. We're just living in it... and loving every second of it!
Scandal Season 4 returns on September 25 at 9/8C. Doesn't the cast look glamorous in this photo?
