Jason Aldean is engaged to Brittany Kerr, the one-time American Idol hopeful who was also his mistress a few years back when he was busted cheating!
The country singer's rep confirms that he proposed to Kerr Wednesday at the San Diego Zoo, one year after finalizing his divorce from Jessica Ussery.
The proposal comes on the heels of an interview in which he addressed the flap over the relationship, and his telling fans to end the flap over the relationship.
"It has been two years of this s--t," Aldean told Billboard. "Get over it, already! And when I finally do say something, every newspaper grabs it."
"And I'm not trying to get in the headlines," the 37-year-old said of defending Kerr on Twitter. "I'm just trying to get people to stop running their mouths."
In September 2012, Aldean was caught kissing Kerr in a Hollywood bar while still married to his wife of 12 years, with whom he has two daughters.
The father of Keeley, 11, and Kendyl, 6, denied that it was more than a one-time mistake, but he ultimately filed for divorce from his wife in 2013.
Kerr made her first red carpet appearance alongside Aldean this past June, controversially accompanying him to the 2014 CMT Awards in Nashville.
After enduring backlash for bringing her, Aldean took to Twitter to defend his relationship with Kerr, saying he was sick of people judging Brittany and himself.
Complaining that fans hate on her "over things they know nothing about," he added, "I have made mistakes but I am a better person because of it."
"I wouldn't change a thing. Im happier than i have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. We are happy and life goes on. Its time to move on people."
It will be the first marriage for Brittany Kerr, 27, a former cheerleader who stands poised to join an interesting club of celebrity wives who were mistresses first ...
There was no keeping LeAnn Rimes' relationship with Eddie Cibrian out of the tabloids since they got together while his wife Brandi Glanville was filming The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
