Chris Brown on Rihanna: We're Just Having Fun, Not Trying to Start a Life Together!

Chris Brown, asked about his always controversial and intriguing relationship with Rihanna, admits that the music stars are just friends ... FOR NOW!

"We're friends. Nothing too serious ... we're not trying to start a life together right now, we're just having fun," he said on Entertainment Tonight.

Chris Brown Talks Rihanna: ET Interview

Right now? Nothing too serious?

As you can imagine, the rumor mill is churning again as #TeamBreezy and the #RihannaNavy read into these words and their impact on Karrueche Tran.

Brown's long-delayed album X, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts this week after its long-delayed release, is not likely to quiet the speculation.

One song in particular, "Drunk Texting," features the line "If by chance you're laying next to someone else right now, I hope it's the worst sex ever."

Is that a reference to Rihanna?!

"Oh no, not at all," Brown said.

"I think that's the fans' perception or the media's perception at all times," the singer said of the Rihanna rumors and allusions," because of our history."

"But when we do music, people make the assumption and that's fine ... if they buy more because they think that, then go ahead and buy a thousand copies!"

"But as far as me writing I don't really try to put my focus on Rihanna every song," Brown added. "At the end of the day it's almost six, seven years later."

"It's like, how many more times am I going to talk about the same situation?"

It's a valid question, although Brown - who says X will define him as an artist - has long been defined by the act of domestic assault he committed.

In the wake of the Ray Rice-Janay Palmer video and the NFL football player's suspension, Brown's name has come up numerous times in the media.

His former flame was even dragged into that saga, indirectly but controversially, when CBS pulled Rihanna's song from its Thursday Night Football intro.

Brown previously told MTV News that "it's all about how you push forward" and that he's not perfect, but therapy has helped him face his own demons.

"You have to forgive yourself," the 25-year-old said.

"[Otherwise] I'll just eat at you and you'll be stuck in the past. For me, I just learned to be a more humble individual and more of a conscious person."

Who may or may not be pining for Rihanna.
