This week, Sex Tape hits UK cinemas, seeing Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz pair up to hunt down their private video that has accidentally been synced to all their friends and families' iPads. Getting busy with gorgeous Cameron in his new movie, Jason has come a long way over the past decade. Check out his TV and movie best bits.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Despite his manhood getting almost as much screen time as himself, Jason's role as Peter in Forgetting Sarah Marshall is arguably one of his most career-defining. It isn't often we get to see a break-up from the dumped man's perspective so Peter's outlook was both refreshing and slightly heartbreaking but peppered with plenty of hilarious moments, most notably the sex-off between Jason, Mila Kunis, Russell Brand and Kristen Bell. We're still holding out hope that the Dracula puppet comedy-rock opera, A Taste For Love gets made for real.
I Love You, Man
Never has there been such a bromantic film as I Love You Man, the story of Peter's (Paul Rudd) quest to find a best man for his wedding due to a lack of male friendships. After numerous man-dates, he falls in man-love with Sydney (Segel) after bonding over mutual love for the band Rush and soon they're inseparable. Sydney provides his "Broseph Goebbels", Peter, with more honesty than he's ever received in his life, such as... how to spot a farter in an open house...
Bad Teacher
Sex Tape isn't the first time Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz have worked together. Back in 2011, the two partnered in school comedy, Bad Teacher, in which gym teacher Russell Gettis (Jason Segel) is completely smitten with drug-abusing teacher Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz), who in turn is lusting after Justin Timberlake's Scott Delacorte. Eventually she realises the error of her ways and turns to Russell, but not before he instructs his class to throw balls at her. Sorry not at her, through her.
How I Met Your Mother
As a regular of popular American sitcom How I Met Your Mother, Marshall Eriksen (Jason) was the easy-going long-term friend and boyfriend of Ted and Lily (respectively). He also penned some of HIMYM's most iconic songs. In particular, Best Night Ever was a downright masterpiece, detailing the couple's night between Lily and himself and Barney and Robin, which he enjoyed immensely (the other couple, not so much). Extra kudos for the lyrics "Lily made some crème brulee-lee-lee-lee-lee."
The Five-Year Engagement
In The Five-Year Engagement, Jason stars opposite Emily Blunt as long-term fiancées who fail to pin down a date to get married because of life getting in the way. As time goes on, Tom (Segel) starts to become disillusioned about their relationship and where they are heading. Despite being a comedy, the film doesn't pull any punches and offers an intelligent look at modern relationships. However, there are plenty of light-hearted moments and the best scenes are the ones between Jason and Chris Pratt.
Sex Tape is released September 3rd.
