Miles Teller Explains How Divergent Role Made Him Feel 'Dead Inside'
Sep 26th 2014, 15:50

Divergent star Miles Teller has been forced to backtrack after claiming filming the Veronica Roth adaptation left him "dead inside," insisting that he is proud to be part of the franchise. Teller got into himself into hot water, after telling W Magazine, that he only took the movie for business reasons and he didn't enjoy working on the Shailene Woodley starring movie.

He said: "I didn't have an interesting part [in Divergent], and I'd taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I'd done that was going to have an international audience," However, following the obvious uproar, Teller's rep issues the following statement to the Hollywood Reporter, insisting he valued his relationship with movie studio Lionsgate, we bet he does.

"Accustomed to being more involved in the process of filmmaking, Miles regrets those words," the actor's rep said. "He does value his relationship with Lionsgate and his participation in the franchise."

Teller went on to clarify the comments in a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, where he insisted people had just taken his comments the wrong way. Referring to why he might have said "business reasons,"

He claimed it was referring to working with his close pal Shailene and being in a blockbuster, he added: "Those were the 'business reasons' which every actor weighs; it's not just the size of the part,"

"And if I said 'dead inside,'" he continued, "I meant just burnt out and fatigued from doing my first big-budget lengthy shoot and four months was a long time and I just wanted to relax afterwards."

Miles is in the Divergent sequel, Insurgent, released next year. How working around Theo James can make anyone dead inside is mind boggling, even if he meant burnt out.
