George Clooney will marry British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin this afternoon in a lavish ceremony in Venice at the seven star Aman Canal Grande Hotel. The groom arrived by taxi boat, from the Cipriani hotel, where the wedding party has been staying, looking handsome in black tie ahead of his big day.
According to reports, despite the press attention and last minute nerves, George was in great spirits as he headed to the venue for his wedding alongside his parents. Cindy Crawford, who had breakfast with Clooney this morning, was seen in a purple gown heading to the wedding along with husband Randy Gerber who has been tipped to be best-man.

The couple arrived in Venice on Friday and held separate rehearsal dinners last night, ahead of the big day. George took his men to the Da Ivo restaurant while Amal checked into the Palazzo Papadopoli Hotel after a family dinner, along with four bridesmaids according to Grazia. According to reports she'll be wearing either Stella McCartney or Alexander McQueen for the big occasion, while the groom's party with be in Armani.

The wedding took place at 5:30pm local time, with guests arriving to Nat King Cole's When I Fall In Love. Stars have been arriving in Venice all weekend, including George's long-time pal Matt Damon and actress Emily Blunt. Bono's U2 just made it in time, arriving earlier this afternoon.
