Benedict Cumberbatch has reinvented Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective during the three series he's played a 21st century savvy Sherlock Holmes and while his star might be rising in Hollywood, the British actor has revealed he'll always be back for more of Sherlock, even until he's collecting his pension.
Three series in and Sherlock is one of the biggest dramas on the planet and with both Martin Freeman and Benedict receiving Emmy nominations for their roles, even with the calibre of competition, it's hard to find a series with a stronger cast. Something Cumberbatch seems well aware and while Hollywood might be on the phone 24/7 he seems pretty settled to playout his days as the famous sleuth.
"As long as the ideas are still there and the audience still wants it and as long as Martin and I are not so infirm that we can no longer remember the lines and shuffle around the set," he recently told Empire magazine, "I'd love to do it into old age, I really would."

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves Benedict, although the thought of it is rather lovely. With series four in the pipeline, first up is that very British tradition - a Christmas special. Expectation is going to be rather high for this year's offering, and according to Martin Freeman we won't be disappointed.
"The plans they have got for the overarching series - of man, it's just so exciting! " he previously explained, "It's going to be full of surprises for you, and for us and for everybody. I think we just know to expect the unexpected now."
