It's two months since they announced that they were expecting their first child together.

And Princess Charlene of Monaco, 36, proudly showed off her small baby bump when she stepped out with husband Prince Albert II, 56, at a charity event on Friday.

The expectant mother, who is due to give birth in December, wowed in a sleeveless midnight blue floor-length gown, which gave just a small hint of her growing baby.

Carrying a white bouquet of flowers in one hand, Princess Charlene held onto her husband's arm with the other as they entered the 66th Red Cross Ball at Monaco's Sporting Club Salle des Etoiles.

With her hair swept back into a bun, the blonde beauty accessorised with a pair of diamond drop earrings, diamond bracelet and a diamond hair clip.

Her husband of three years looked dapper as ever in black tie with a white dinner jacket.

In June, Prince Albert told The Associated Press that he and his wife were 'overjoyed', 'thrilled' and 'very excited' about the impending arrival of their child.

He said they are 'taking every cautious step to make sure everything goes well'.

Albert, now 56, was a longtime bachelor who has acknowledged fathering two children out of wedlock - daughter Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, born in 1992 to American Tamara Rotolo, and Alexandre Coste, born in 2003 to Togo native Nicole Coste.

For years the Prince refused to acknowledge Jazmin, now 22, as his own, but did so after a paternity test in 2006.

Despite this, he failed to attend her graduation from Fordham University in May of this year, choosing to attend a Louis Vuitton fashion show instead.

Albert married Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer for South Africa, in 2011.
