Miley Cyrus Wins Video of the Year, Has Homeless Man Accept Award: Watch the Speech
Aug 25th 2014, 10:28, by Hilton Hater

What a difference one year makes.

At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus stole every headline by Twerking alongside Robin Thicke and forever dirtying foam fingers in the eyes of viewers around the globe.

At the 2014 ceremony, however, Miley won Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball," but didn't even take the stage to accept the trophy.

Instead, she walked up with a 22-year old named Jesse, who told the crowd he was one of "1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives."

He explained that the music industry will make $7 billion this year, while they honor themselves at major events... with thousands of poverty-stricken individuals sitting right outside the theater's doors.

He talked of fundraising campaign created by Cyrus that will benefit a drop-in service center in Hollywood she's been visiting as of late and asked fans to visit Miley's Facebook page for more.

It was a surprising, emotional few moments that you can view here:

"I'm just getting started," said Cyrus in a statement. "And I want to make sure my fans are part of helping me to give back and make an impact on this issue—we all have the power to make change happen."

Added the 21-year old:

"This is about helping youth, people just like you and me have the opportunity to find their inner power and potential, no matter what their circumstances."
