"One of our more creative pitches from Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney," the Sox Tweeted after the game began. "A very impressive first pitch."
True to form, McKayla quickly downplayed the viral moment.
"FYI I've already thrown a pitch from the mound," Maroney tweeted with a video of her past effort at a L.A. Dodgers game. "I was just unveiling my changeup pitch;)."
