When news broke that Kerry Katona's fiancé George Kay was detained by police after having a breakdown we were concerned for the couple but former Gladiator George has now spoken out on the issue and has the support of his Atomic Kitten fiancée to help him turn his life around.
George, 34, was found weaving in and out of cars worrying onlookers outside his £3,500-a-month, five-bedroom rented home in Chinnor, Oxfordshire on Wednesday shouting that people were going to kill him.
He was detained by police who took him to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment and was later discharged by doctors.
Speaking about what led to the incident, George told The Sun on Sunday: "I wasn't sleeping, so I was taking sleeping pills and I'd been drinking and taking steroids.
"I'd been up for the best part of four days. With the mixture of those things I think something had to give and unfortunately we had the incident that we had."
Singer Kerry, 33, who was said to have left the family home after George's breakdown, has promised to help George pick himself back up again after the harrowing episode.
A friend of the star said: "It has been a terrible few days for Kerry and George but they are back together which is all that matters. Some reports gave the impression Kerry had left George on his own but that isn't the case at all.

"George has been through a difficult time lately and his moods have been quite unstable but Kerry understands what it is like to battle with emotional difficulties and isn't going to turn her back on him.
"Instead, she plans to use her own experiences to help him through this."
Meanwhile, Kerry and George have been inundated with messages from well wishers after hearing the news.
