Jay-Z and Beyonce have been at the centre of split rumours for the last few weeks, but there was no sign of tension at the launch of the rapper's mum's new restaurant on Saturday night in New York.

The couple are currently on a joint tour and according to the New York Post are sleeping in separate rooms because the tension is so bad? We find that hard to believe based on their secret visit to the very private event, which had zero press coverage.

According to one attendee Bey and Jay were in great spirits as they helped Gloria open the restaurant Diamondz N Da ruff in Newark, TMZ report. They stayed for around 15 minutes and Bey was apparently laughing and joking with her mother-in-law and also gave her a pretty friendly hug.

In 2007, the rapper admitted he'd noticed Beyonce as soon as Destiny's Child's breakout record, No, No, No hit the charts. In an interview with Charlie Rose he said they'd known each other for a decade and that he'd first noticed her talent: "I said that's a fantastic talent," "She was singing like a rapper. So the first song with Wyclef she was singing really fast, and I was like why she singing so fast? And she was on a team, and everything. And I was like she's a talented person."
