We thought these guys were going to last – Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult have reportedly split.

The pair have had a rocky past when it comes to their romance but their busy work schedules were apparently too much of a strain for their relationship.

A source told E! News: "They spent a lot of time apart because of work, and it was difficult on their relationship."

And the former couple weren't in each other's company earlier this week with Oscar-winning actress Jennifer shooting a Vanity Fair cover in Los Angeles on Tuesday while Nicholas was spotted on the other side of the world in Tokyo the following day.

The pair, who started dating in 2011, rekindled their romance in 2013 after splitting for a few months.

About A Boy star Nicholas was seen with Kristen Stewart in Tokyo on Wednesday sparking rumours the couple are dating.

The actor has not been seen out with ex Jennifer since spring this year but Jennifer recently laughed off reports Nicholas was seeing Kristen.

Nicholas was rumoured to have been dating Kristen Stewart (WENN)

She told Marie Claire: "There was something in a magazine, and I was like, 'Oh, my God, that's hilarious,' because Kristen and I are friends. I actually texted her a picture of it and was like, 'Just so you know, this is absolutely true.'"

However, she also spoke of the difficulty of having to work hard while maintaining a happy relationship.

She said: "When we're busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn't text back or call. Life's super busy. Obviously you know what they're doing, and you trust them."
