The Kardashians, Ellen, Miley Cyrus and other stars also expressed their condolences

Barack Obama has issued a touching tribute to Robin Williams, who was found dead aged 63, from an apparent suicide in his home, on Monday night.

In a statement released by the White House, the President praises the Oscar winning actor's versatility, as well as noting the huge impact the actor made on many.

The President made a touching tribute to the star (AKM-GSI)

"Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien - but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit.

A host of celebrities also took to Twitter to remember the star, with fellow funnyman, Steve Martin expressing his shock.
